It is created through a generative algorithm which randomizes, and selects new dice values and cells, to reveal a random-relational pattern on the digital canvas. The revealed pattern emerges from the accumulation of many probabilities through different time fragments of ~8 minutes total experience — in which the algorithm undertakes a performative process. When the time cycle ends, the system resets and starts over to create a new, unique pattern. The system is also coupled with sounds, specific to each possibility created on the screen to form an auditory pattern. The participant is given a chance to observe a total of 4,096 new patterns within a cycle - and an invitation to question probability, order, chaos, and uncertainty. The project stands as a reminder that we exist as a result of coincidences, within a capillary system of possibilities. With the senses that we have, we can perceive only a limited portion of the physical reality that surrounds us. This perceived physicality keeps altering as it goes through many layers and processes (biological and psychological) in our brains. These perceptions draw our perceptual schemas and these schemas in turn shape the reality we perceive. Our perceptions and what we perceive, therefore, constantly reshape call each other into being, as in a vicious cycle. At this point, how can we define what reality really is, what constant can we refer to, and aren’t we supposed to look at this issue in a more holistic and intertwined manner? The IPOCle is made of a strong light source, lenses, a convex mirror, a fog machine and a sound system; installed inside a dark container. The light source is located so that the goes through the lenses, hung one after another. The refracted light reaches the mirror. The convex mirror transforms the light and reflects it back. The fog machine keeps running to make the dispersed light visible for us; while a base frequency keeps running in the background. Candaş Şişman performed the graphic notation (sound composition), which he constructed based on the space and time he experienced in Budapest, with musicians Barabás Lőrinc and Ölveti Mátyás during his residency program. The Installation in the exhibition is a compilation of performances performed by different musicians in different countries. Within the space, there is a cubic installation with four screens displaying sound recordings of previous performances and graphic notation. The mist enveloping the space enhances the immersive experience. Candaş Şişman's work explores the thresholds between sound, word and visual image, while focusing on the limits and possibilities of language which encompasses our conceptual thinking. The artist uses the graphic notation to create a kind of personal language, based on experiencing the visual and sound in parallel within the spatial experience. He constructs a sensory experiment to liberate and pluralize the forms of interpersonal communication. Recitivism beyond man’s decentralization reminds us that humanity is only a fictional element in the evolutionary process and that it may not exist in the future. Rather than looking from a negative standpoint to this disappearance, it means that the loss of the human-centered world is a natural process of transition and a part of evolution. It reminds you that you are in a mutation process with non-human actors and that you have just been transformed into something else. Transition; is an installation that occurs when 5 mirrors are vibrated at different intensities. With the vibration motors vibrating the mirrors, the audience sees their own image as a blurred pattern. The vibrational frequencies are different from each other, symbolizing the unreadable evolutionary periods of humanity in the deepest time. The mirrors that the viewer sees the most blurred copy depicts the past and future of mankind, and the mirror that he most clearly sees is the present time. The MOMENTS version of the project, consisting of 9 lightboxes and video documentation, was created by instantly recording the probability patterns produced by the generative system during its exhibition at Akbank Sanat between March 1 and May 7, 2022. Each recording is formed by the combination of many different time fragments and probability particles within the performative process performed by the algorithm every five and a half minutes. Each of the 9 outputs seen in the installation represents a unique pattern of 4,096 possibilities, which were recorded and erased at the end of the generative process. The participant is looking at a set of 9 different probabilities, composed of 4,096 probabilities from different moments. Candas’s trials of combing various forms don’t necessarily imply the mere creation of a pioneering flash but rather the use of the endless possibilities in associating the known and unknown. http://www.csismn.com https://csismn.com/CENTRALIZED ‘Centralized’ contemplates how authorities manipulate perceptions and change the reality that is experienced. Such systems in the future could be developed to easily control human beings by adapting them to new technologies—humans may become increasingly mechanical. We need to look at this situation from a dystopian perspective. A dystopia is feedback from the problems of humanity. Problems create solutions, solutions create problems. This feedback loop repeats endlessly in time and space. The good news is, we are able to experience a similar feedback system right now. So we still have time to change the centralized system. A sound source is situated in a cyclic structure, essentially becoming a centralized control mechanism. Sound emanates from out of the center of a plexiglass cube. Microphones move according to a kinetic system, constantly changing their distance from a speaker—feedback intertwines. The sound produced by this feedback is transmitted to three different boxes that can be placed over the head. Each box has a sound source and different sensory media such as light, scent and haptic material. These sensory media and sound combine to create a hybrid experience. The participant is placed in a nonexistent space and time, becoming part of the centralized system. The intended result of this production method is to make occur a probability that is out of our hands and unpredictable, and immortalize this possibility. The abstract image that has been formed unrestrained and the patterns that have been created by numbers actually arose from a long performative process and an assemble of different time segments. The spectator is now looking at the totality created by 23.716 different possibilities that belong to different moments.
